Welcome to Buttermilk Dance

Our Story

Welcome to Buttermilk Dance I’m Diane and Principal of the school. I would just like to tell you a bit about the dance school and its history.

Buttermilk Dance is a well established dance school providing Adult and Children’s Dance classes in the Kidsgrove and surrounding areas for over 50 years. Over the years pupils have had the opportunity to perform in many local venues including the Mitchel Memorial Theatre, the Repertory Theatre and the Regent Theatre.

It all started back in 1975

The first classes took place in Kidsrove Methodist Church Hall. I then converted rooms above the Co-op in Butt Lane into Dance Studios and then in 2001 the dance school moved to our present studios in West Avenue. This was formerly a Lloyds Bank which was refurbished and a large extension added. Over the years there has been hundreds if not thousands of pupils attending the school many have gone on to make a career in the world of dance while others have made long lasting friendships and just enjoyed their time learning a new skill. It's nice to see some of our previous pupils now bringing their daughters or grand daughters to classes.
